Procedures Class – (Mandatory) Oct 2 - Nov 3
This important class is basically Precinct Operations 101. In it you will be introduced to the new legal requirements, changes in precinct operations and be given the chance to review of the use and management of the eSlate voting system. All poll workers must attend this class. You will be paid for attending the class, provided that you serve as a poll worker on Election Day.
Class lengths are scheduled for 2.5 hours.
FT/RAC/POCT Training– (Mandatory) Oct 15 - Nov 3
All Field Techs, RACs, and POCTs must attend this training class. The training curriculum will include all aspects of eSlate troubleshooting and repair, as well as general polling place procedures. If taking this class, the Procedures Class is recommended only, not required.
The Training Lab - (Recommended) Oct 6 - Nov 3
Beginning October 1, The Training Lab will be set up at 40 Tower Road. The hours vary. A number of different lab focuses have been developed to help you excel in all aspects of precinct management. There will be time to practice the opening and closing of the polls using the eSlate voting equipment, practice completing the Ballot Reconcilation paperwork, practice processing VBM and provisional voters, and free time with the eSlate voting equipment to practice whatever you want to practice.
Because the space in The Training Lab is limited, we ask that you review the schedule and sign up to reserve time. In fact, go have coffee with friends, and bring the team in to practice together. Make a morning (or afternoon or evening) of it!
There are three ways to sign up--you can do it online by clicking on the Enroll Now button, you can call (650) 286-2810, or email your class request to pollworkertraining@smcare.org.
Your choice!
The Training Lab will be staffed at all times -- you'll always be able to get answers and assistance. Remember: Practice makes perfect! If you are a traditional judge, and want to learn more, come to a lab!
Election Officers who attend four hours of lab training will get the title and the distinction of becoming an "eJudge" or "eInspector" in recognition of the time and effort they devote to mastering the electronic voting equipment.
